Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)
Yuichi Yamaura is Vice President of JAXA responsible for strategic planning/management, international relations and industry collaboration since 2014. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Yamaura was Associate Executive Director overseeing JAXA’s Lunar and Planetary Exploration and International Space Station (ISS) Programs from 2011 to 2014. He served as the Chairperson of the International Space Exploration Coordination Group (ISECG) from 2011 to 2012. Mr. Yamaura was Director of the Strategic Planning and Management Department from 2009 to 2011. Bofore 2009, having joined JAXA (formerly the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA)) in 1978, he was mostly engaged in the ISS Program, Space Shuttle/Spacelab missions and program planning/management.
Mr. Yamaura holds a Master and Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tokyo.
Mr. Yamaura has been Guest Professor at the University of Tsukuba, Japan since 2008.
